The Bazooka arrives

New VIP weapon: the Bazooka

VIPs can now shoulder a proper Bazooka. It rides in your knife slot, fires a rocket with real impact effects, and went through a full day of battle-hardening: firing, projectile flight, impact visuals, and what happens to it when you turn zombie are all sorted. It is granted once your round role has settled, so it always arrives in working order.

New map

  • zm_72ck_xgb_01 joins the map roster.

Sound and feel

  • New infection sound when the plague claims someone.
  • New ultimate cooldown cues so you can hear when your Warcraft ability is ready.
  • Positional audio cues for Warcraft effects - abilities now sound like they happen somewhere, not everywhere.
  • The Illumination Grenade got another buff: bigger range, brighter light.

Fixes

  • The money HUD updates properly again after purchases.
  • Squashed several crashes uncovered during Bazooka testing.

The rocket goes forward. Please point the forward end away from your team.

Brighter humans, cleaner grenades

A lighting and grenade pass today, plus some economy fairness for the freshly bitten.

Lighting

  • Human lighting is brighter - you can actually see where you are running now.
  • The Illumination Grenade got fixed: it now casts a proper sphere of light on the world instead of a weird glow.
  • Removed the stray floating lights that followed bots around like haunted lanterns.

Economy and gameplay

  • When you get infected, your weapons are now sold back for cash first - turning zombie no longer eats your investment.
  • Zombie purchase refunds now go to the right player.
  • Various grenade gameplay fixes so throws behave consistently through role changes.

Stability

  • Players are protected during server restarts - no more mid-session rugpulls.
  • Map changes take effect immediately when an operator switches maps.
  • Fixed a client crash around round transitions.

Yes, the zombies are still faster than you in the dark. Now you can at least watch them coming.

Zombie models back in shape

The undead got a visit to the tailor today, plus a round of quality-of-life fixes.

Zombies look right again

  • Zombie models were rebuilt on CS2's current animation rig, so they move and animate properly instead of glitching out on the new server.
  • Custom zombie models now load reliably for everyone in the server.

Quality of life

  • Your flashlight beam now shines from the right spot instead of somewhere near your elbow.
  • Late joiners get seated into the round properly, and zombie respawns are handled reliably - no more limbo after death.
  • Bot takeover is disabled: everyone plays their own life, no hopping into a bot after you die.
  • Several stability fixes around round transitions, so the switch from one round to the next is cleaner.

The zombies thank you for noticing their new look. Briefly. Then they bite.

Settling in: smoother joins and round starts

Day two on the new machine - a stability pass focused on getting you into the game and keeping rounds flowing.

Fixes

  • Rounds now start properly even when everyone piles onto one team - no more waiting on a round that never begins.
  • Joining the server is more reliable: the connection and admission flow got a full overhaul.
  • Team join messages are back in chat, so you can see who is arriving.
  • Fixed a crash that could hit the server at the moment of infection - the most dramatic possible time for things to go wrong.

More polish is on the way, but the core loop - join, play, get infected, take revenge - is solid again.

Velheim moves into its new European home

Big day behind the scenes: the Velheim CS2 server now runs on a dedicated Linux machine in the EU, and the website points straight at it.

What this means for you

  • Better connection for European players - the server sits closer to most of our community now.
  • A sturdier foundation - the whole mod stack was rebuilt for the new machine, with launch-day fixes to keep it loading cleanly after CS2 updates.
  • Same game, same community: Zombie Plague + Warcraft, now on stronger hardware.

Expect a little dust while we settle in - a few more stability passes are coming over the next days.
